International Concern as Leading Canadian Activists Face Unprecedented Charges
Two Black Women, Adora Nwofor and Taylor McNallie are being targeted for their work as activists in the global struggle for racial justice. Calgary Courts and Calgary Police Service are stacking disturbing charges to strategically silence these women and their work to dismantle systemic oppression and create liberation for all. These events are a clear example of systemic racism, misogyny and anti-blackness in a nation supposedly known for its diversity and inclusion.
Two of Canada's most committed community activists, Adora Nwofor and Taylor McNallie, are facing charges that have incited international concern and triggered a wave of support from advocates worldwide. Nwofor and McNallie, located in Calgary, Alberta, have become notable figures in the global struggle for racial justice and collective liberation.

Adora Nwofor, the president of Black Lives Matter YYC, is a tireless advocate against systemic anti-Black racism. In June 2023, she experienced an unprecedented legal challenge when she was charged with a hate crime against a Catholic school, a charge later withdrawn due to a "clerical error." Since then, she has received two more charges for her participation in a counter protest against anti-trans protestors at a high school. These events have underscored the complexities faced by activists in the pursuit of human rights, in a nation supposedly renowned for its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Taylor McNallie, co-creator of Inclusive Canada, Mutual Aid Canada and Walls Down Collective, has been pivotal in offering education on anti-racism, white supremacy, and anti-Blackness. McNallie's work also extends to providing access to no-barrier resources and care, like harm reduction, free food programs, and an alternative to local policing. McNallie has received 16 charges (4 have been withdrawn, the other 12 are in various stages - awaiting sentencing, awaiting trial) since 2020 during protests against police violence and anti-trans terrorists.

The global community, alarmed by the charges against these esteemed advocates, is rallying support and calling for transparency and fairness in these cases. A public relations campaign, Stop the Stack, YYC!, has been initiated to underscore the importance of these activists' work, clarify the circumstances surrounding the charges, and mobilize international support.

This campaign aims to shed light on the potential implications of these charges on the broader landscape of activism and community advocacy. The charges against Nwofor and McNallie raise critical questions about the legal rights of protestors and activists and Stop the Stack, YYC! aims to engage the public in a dialogue about these issues, both in Canada and globally.

We call on international allies, supporters, and media outlets to stand with Adora Nwofor and Taylor McNallie and to support the vital work they do for our global community. Their voices are indispensable in the worldwide fight for justice, and we must ensure they are not silenced.
